Cover and Blurb Reveal: The Hot Zone by Jayne Castle

One of my favourite authors to cyberstalk is Jayne Ann Krentz (aka Amanda Quick, aka Jayne Castle and formerly aka Stephanie James), so when I saw the cover and blurb of her latest novel, The Hot Zone under her pseudonym Jayne Castle, posted online I had to share. 😀

The world of Harmony has its wonders, one of them being Rainshadow Island.
Just beneath its surface, a maze of catacombs hides a dangerous secret…

Halloween—with its tricks and treats—is a dust bunny’s dream come true. Just ask Lyle, Sedona Snow’s faithful sidekick. But for Sedona, it’s a nightmare. Though her new job managing a small hotel and tavern on Rainshadow is helping her move on from her tragic past, a bizarre disaster down in the catacombs has brought a pack of rowdy ghost hunters to her inn.

And now, Sedona’s ex has arrived on the island, claiming he wants to get back together, just as a newcomer appears to have a strong interest in her. Cyrus Jones is the new Guild boss in town. He has his own agenda when it comes to Sedona, but even the best-laid plans are no match for the passion that springs up on Rainshadow…

More dust bunnies? Bring it! Enigmatic guild bosses? Yes, please!

I have a feeling I’m really going to like his novel. It gives me an After Glow/After Dark vibe – Castle’s first novels in the futuristic Harmony series, starring Emmett and Lydia. (Although, I do wish they would stop guillotining the heroine’s head on every cover in this series.) And the hero’s last name is “Jones,” which could link back  to the Jones family from her Arcane series novels and Marlowe Jones from Midnight Crystal – but, really, I’m hoping this means more cameos from previous characters. But other than these suspect tidbits, the blurb doesn’t give away much from the story behind the cover.

So are there any other Jayne Castle fans out there anticipating this novel? What are some of your predictions for The Hot Zone?

    • I love her futuristic series! It’s literally a different world with aliens, ghosts, dust bunnies and people who can manipulate the energy in crystals. You should definitely read her Harmony series if you get the chance.

  2. I’m hoping Sedona is somehow a descendant of Arizona Snow or her family. It would be another one of the lovely little insiders knowledge linking gems like the Abberwick Tea & Spice Shop.

    • I’ve noticed that Castle’s really good at linking novels together – very subtly, so that new readers aren’t confused but old readers get a little bonus.

Arizona Snow was mentioned in quite a few of the Arcane novels as well. She seems to be a popular reoccurring character. 🙂

    • It’s official…Jayne Castle just confirmed that Sedona is in fact a descendant of Arizona Snow’s! So your deductive logic has paid off!

      • That’s awesome. I love how she does this! And it’s nothing introduce to the average reader. You don’t have to know Arizona from Eclipse Bay to enjoy her in Running Hot, etc. I like to think things like this are rewards for dedicated readers.
