Readers’ Watchlist: INTO THE FIRE by Jeaniene Frost

23586994Jeaniene Frost is concluding her Night Prince series and word is that the new release date for Into the Fire is February 28, 2017. It’s been a long wait and is still going to be a lot longer…I confess, I have completely forgotten where the story ended off, so I may have to read the previous books before I get this one. (But I think I’ll wait until its closer to the release date so I don’t have to live too long with withdrawal symptoms…breaking a book habit is hard and I really don’t want to.)

For nearly six hundred years, Vlad Tepesh cared for nothing, so he had nothing to lose. His brutal reputation ensured that all but the most foolhardy stayed away. Now falling in love with Leila has put him at the mercy of his passions. And one adversary has found a devastating way to use Vlad’s new bride against him.

A powerful spell links Leila to the necromancer Mircea. If he suffers or dies, so does she. Magic is forbidden to vampires, so Vlad and Leila enlist an unlikely guide as they search for a way to break the spell. But an ancient enemy lies in wait, capable of turning Vlad and Leila’s closest friends against them…and finally tearing the lovers apart forever.

Has anyone else been keeping up with the Night Prince series?

Cover Reveal: ARCHANGEL’S HEART by Nalini Singh

Nalini Singh shared the very stunning cover for Archangel’s Heart earlier today – and while I was lucky enough to have a sneak peek a few days before – I am still stunned by how amazing Elena looks. (Yes, I am still lusting over her dress.) Fair warning, Elena, I will be spending more time in your closet. 🙂

However, we still have a while to wait before we can read about the occasion when Elena gets to wear this blue maxi as the novel does not release until November 2016 (which is really just in time for my birthday – just thought I should put that out there in case there are any ARCs lying around).

But till then, we will have to satisfy our readerly hearts with this tease of a blurb:

One of the most vicious archangels in the world has disappeared. No one knows if Lijuan is dead or has chosen to Sleep the long sleep of an immortal. But with her lands falling into chaos under a rising tide of vampiric bloodlust, a mysterious and ancient order of angels known as the Luminata calls the entire Cadre together to discuss the fate of her territory.

Accompanying her archangelic lover Raphael to the Luminata compound, guild hunter-turned-angel Elena senses that all is not as it seems. Secrets echo from within the stone walls of the compound, and the deeper Elena goes, the uglier the darkness. But neither Raphael nor Elena is ready for the brutal truths hidden within—truths that will change everything Elena thinks she knows about who she is…

Nothing will ever be the same again.

I feel like I have been waiting for another Elena and Raphael novel since the last one ended. If you haven’t had a chance to read about this angelic (kickass but not so innocent) power couple then you are very lucky – not only do you not have to suffer book withdrawal but you get to catch up with their story before the next one releases.

Happy reading,

What Do We Know…

That is today’s question…well, more precisely, the question is “What do we know about Kresley Cole‘s upcoming Immortals After Dark novel, Sweet Ruin?”

I know what I know…which is ZIP…

ZERO…

ZILCH!

No, really, I clearly have not been keeping up with the forums so when I saw the cover and title earlier today, I was baffled.

So I should probably rephrase the question and instead of asking “what do we know,” I should probably be asking “what do you know?”

Because what you know is what I want to know…

Get it…

Got it…

Great!

So please, please, please share!

Booking My Summer…and Then Some!

Hi all,

Soooo it’s been a while, huh?

What can I say? Every time I thought about updating my blog, I was too tired to move…the thought’s about as far as it got. Teaching can drive you crazy it seems. And that sense of accomplishment? Most day’s I just end up waiting for it and it never arrives. Until Friday. And then…HALLELUJAH!

Long tangent short, I’ve been busy. 😦

But not too busy to start pre-ordering my summer/fall/winter reads, which include some of these highly anticipated novels by proven authors:

First up, Blood Kiss by J. R. Ward, Black Dagger Legacy book one:

The legacy of the Black Dagger Brotherhood continues in a spin-off series from the #1 New York Times bestselling author…

Paradise, blooded daughter of the king’s First Advisor, is ready to break free from the restrictive life of an aristocratic female. Her strategy? Join the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training center program and learn to fight for herself, think for herself…be herself. It’s a good plan, until everything goes wrong. The schooling is unfathomably difficult, the other recruits feel more like enemies than allies, and it’s very clear that the Brother in charge, Butch O’Neal, a.k.a. the Dhestroyer, is having serious problems in his own life.

And that’s before she falls in love with a fellow classmate. Craeg, a common civilian, is nothing her father would ever want for her, but everything she could ask for in a male. As an act of violence threatens to tear apart the entire program, and the erotic pull between them grows irresistible, Paradise is tested in ways she never anticipated–and left wondering whether she’s strong enough to claim her own power…on the field, and off.

Second, Siren’s Call by Jayne Castle:

In the mysterious world of Harmony, there are places filled with unexplored marvels. But Rainshadow Island isn’t about to give up its secrets . . .

In the alien catacombs of Rainshadow, there are creatures whose compelling songs lure the unwary to their death. That’s why Rafe Coppersmith, hired to clear out the catacombs for exploration, needs a music talent. He knows the perfect one, but she probably doesn’t want anything do with him . . .

Ella Morgan had once fallen hard and fast for Rafe, but then he disappeared for months and he’s not about to tell her why. Ella, too, has secrets that only her dust bunny knows. She’s not just a music talent, she’s a Siren: a paranormal singer capable of singing men to sleep – or to their deaths.

But once on Rainshadow, Rafe and Ella will learn that surrendering to passion doesn’t come without risks – and fighting fire with fire only adds to the flame . . .

Read number three is none other than About a Vampire by Lynsay Sands:

In New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands’ new Argeneau novel, a vampire accustomed to seducing every woman he meets finds the one determined to resist him . . .

With immortal good looks and scorching charisma, Justin Bricker has yet to meet a woman he can’t win over. His potential life mate should be no different. But instead of falling into his bed, Holly Bosley runs away and ends up mortally wounded. To save her, he has to turn her. And then Bricker learns the shocking truth: Holly’s already married.

Holly wakes up with a bump on her head, a craving for blood, and a sexy stranger who insists they belong together. She needs Bricker’s help to control her new abilities, even as she tries to resist his relentless seduction. Choosing between the world she knows and the eternity he offers is impossible. But Justin is fighting for his life mate – maybe even his life – and he’ll break every rule to do it . . .

And because I love historical reads as much as paranormal ones, book four is Wildfire in His Arms by Johanna Lindsey:

#1 New York Times bestselling author Johanna Lindsey’s passionate new tale about a gunfighter running from his past who finds his future when he escorts a beautiful outlaw to her hanging. Featuring one of Lindsey’s most intriguing heroes: the dangerous and mysterious Degan Grant from One Heart to Win.

With his work in Montana completed now that the Callahan-Warren feud has ended in marriage rather than bloodshed, Degan Grant sets out for California because it is far away from the home he wants to forget – until the US Marshal who saved his life calls in a favor. All Degan has to do is apprehend three outlaws on the marshal’s list and turn them over to the law. Easy enough, he figures, for a man no one wants to tangle with.

But then a bold young woman crosses his path. Maxine grew up so pretty and attracted so much unwanted attention in her Texas hometown that events spiraled out of control. She will try anything to escape the handsome, enigmatic gunfighter who intends to turn her over to a corrupt sheriff who will hang her instead of putting her on trial.

Saddled with a sassy, spirited young woman who insists she is innocent, Degan must hunt down a vicious killer and keep an old enemy at bay. But forced into intimate proximity with his beguiling prisoner, he finds his desire sparking into a wildfire of passion, and he can no longer deny that it is time for them to risk confronting their pasts so he can have a chance at a future with her in his arms forever.

And that’s all I have on my list for now, with the exception of the upcoming Nalini Singh novels…but that’s a given. 😉

A New Nalini Singh Cover…SLAVE TO SENSATION Gets a Makeover

When Nalini Singh announced that she would be posting a brand new cover on Facebook, just a little over twelve hours ago, to say I was excited would have been an extreme understatement. I was ecstatic, delirious, my curiosity roused beyond relief…so I was very happy when the cover was revealed a few hours ago.

I actually liked the original cover for Slave to Sensation, so I won’t be upgrading my copy. but if you weren’t a fan of the purple cover (below) now is your chance. If only they would reissue Angel’s Blood with a cover to fit the rest of the Guild Hunter series.

What do you think? Another amazing paranormal cover, non?

Cover Reveal: SHARDS OF HOPE by Nalini Singh

Check out the incomparable cover for Nalini Singh‘s upcoming Psy-Changeling masterpiece, Shards of Hope:

The “smoldering heat, epic romance, and awesome action” of Nalini Singh’s New York Times bestselling series continues as two Arrows find themselves caught in a chilling conspiracy that spans all three races…

Awakening wounded in a darkened cell, their psychic abilities blocked, Aden and Zaira know they must escape. But when the lethal soldiers break free from their mysterious prison, they find themselves in a harsh, inhospitable landscape far from civilization. Their only hope for survival is to make it to the hidden home of a predatory changeling pack that doesn’t welcome outsiders.

And they must survive. A shadowy enemy has put a target on the back of the Arrow squad, an enemy that cannot be permitted to succeed in its deadly campaign. Aden will cross any line to keep his people safe for this new future, where even an assassin might have hope of a life beyond blood and death and pain. Zaira has no such hope. She knows she’s too damaged to return from the abyss. Her driving goal is to protect Aden, protect the only person who has ever come back for her no matter what.

This time, even Aden’s passionate determination may not be enough—because the emotionless chill of Silence existed for a reason. For the violent, and the insane, and the irreparably broken…like Zaira.

Do we love it? Hate it? Or are we stuck on our neighbour’s fence about this one?

Well, cover or no…I’ve only got one thing to say to Aden:

So bring it on!

Throwback Thursday: THE MAD, BAD DUKE by Jennifer Ashley

I’m sharing an old favourite this week for Throwback Thursday. It was one of the very first Jennifer Ashley novels I read, and the novel that made me realize that I was madly, badly in love with her writing.

Introducing….

The Mad, Bad Duke by Jennifer Ashley!

Meagan Tavistock can easily see how Alexander earned the nickname Mad, Bad Duke. His deep blue eyes promise sinful pleasure and his rich voice intimates that as soon as they are skin to skin, he’ll fulfill desires she isn’t even aware of.

When a love spell misses its intended target, Meagan can no longer resist the temptation…until the magic wears off, leaving the pair in a most compromising position. Their only option is a marriage that thrusts Meagan into a new world of high danger, dark secrets, and a passion so intense she can’t help wondering: Is it the lingering power of the spell or true love at last?

The second of the Nvengaria series, The Mad, Bad Duke was the reason I went back and read Penelope and Prince Charming – an equally delightful tale, but Meagan and Alexander have a special place in my heart.

Alexander came of as cold initially, but boy was he HOT! And Meagan was a sweetheart from start to finish. The novel had everything that my paranormal and historical loving heart desired – magic and carriages and lavish parties. In fact, just thinking about the book makes me want to read it again. 🙂

PsyNet Breaking News!

This just in, Nalini Singh has penned a love story of epic proportions between two Arrows. Aden, a name which has been buzzing on the Net for a while now, and Zaira – a surprising new addition – have eloped! (Okay, this reporter is taking liberties with the term “eloped” but we are not disqualifying that as an option.)

Shards of Hope, releasing in 2015, will be the next installment of Ms. Singh’s action-packed Psy/Changeling series:

The “smoldering heat, epic romance, and awesome action”* of Nalini Singh’s New York Times bestselling series continues as two Arrows find themselves caught in a chilling conspiracy that spans all three races…

Awakening wounded in a darkened cell, their psychic abilities blocked, Aden and Zaira know they must escape. But when the lethal soldiers break free from their mysterious prison, they find themselves in a harsh, inhospitable landscape far from civilization. No cover as of yet, but stay tuned for the reveal.

Release Day Review: A VERY LEVET CHRISTMAS by Alexandra Ivy

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Christmas comes a little early with the release of Alexandra Ivy’s A Very Levet Christmas!

The Blurb:

A gargoyle of Levet’s charm and intelligence should not be facing a solitary Christmas. True, he may appear a little unconventional, not to mention unconventionally little even for a gargoyle. But what Levet lacks in height he makes up for in loyalty, and being banned from the festivities surrounding the Queen of Weres’ new pups is quite unfair.

So when a beautiful Christmas angel begs for help in fulfilling her duties, Levet has nothing better to do than agree. Armed with a magical wand, Levet confronts Damon, a pureblood Were intent on seizing the throne. Challenging the King will put the pups at risk and drive away Damon’s potential mate, Gia. Who better to convince Damon to choose love, not war, than a gargoyle expert in “amour”? With a little magic, and a lot of Levet, this may yet be a truly wonderful Christmastime.

The Review:

Ms. Ivy releases a short, but sweet novella with plenty of Christmas magic and mischief from the resident gargoyle of the Guardians of Eternity series, Levet, the novella’s hero.

The novella was written more along the lines of A Christmas Carol than a romance novel. Damon and Levet are the main focuses of this novel, with Damon playing a very Scrooge-like role with his dislike for Christmas. Gia, on the other hand, is rarely seen in the novel – her arrival in the end more of an afterthought than the main focus. Levet, with a little push from a Christmas Angel, is able to avert disaster and emerge a hero in the aftermath of a battle that never was.

However, despite the fact that the novel was not “romantic” in the traditional sense, readers are able to catch up with Salvatore, Styxx and the rest to celebrate the arrival of the Were King’s pups.

A Very Levet Christmas is a nice, light read that brings with it the joy of the Christmas season…in September!

RATING - 3

First, Ms. Ivy announced her plans to expand her Guardians of Eternity world with a new series kicking off with Marked by Darkness and now we get to feast our eyes on the drop dead gorgeous cover for When Darkness Ends, which is not the final book of the series but the final book before Ms. Ivy starts to self-publish the series.

I saw the cover earlier on Wicked Scribes, but WOW!

Is he it beautiful or what?
